Splashing about at Phangan Wipeout

Koh Phangan wipeout 2During our travels across Thailand, we spent some time on the island of Kho Phangan, which is known as a bit of a party island as it’s home to the world famous Full Moon Party.

Fun in the sun

Staying at a beachfront hostel, one morning we decided to have a laugh and check out Phangan Wipeout, which is an obstacle course on water – think of a smaller version of the courses you see on Wipeout and Total Wipeout.

It was very fun, but hugely tiring for someone with no upper body strength like me. I was completely shattered after just going half way round!

Assault course craziness

To start the course you have to swing in on a rope. This is also the same place you jump from to launch someone off The Blob – a huge bag of air that will launch someone when two more people jump onto it from the platform.

I was a bit of a flailing mess on my leap and landed right on my face – apparently everyone thought I’d died! The course also has trampolines, a climbing wall and barrels – and that’s just for starters. It all sounds quite painful, but I can promise you it is really good fun, and pretty good value at 500 baht for the whole day. This also gives you free access to a pool table, hammocks and food, so after lunch we played some pool and then chilled out watching everyone else falling about it.

If you’re the opposite from me and actually have some sporting skills you may want to rise to the challenge and time yourself to see if you can earn a place on the Phangan Wipeout leaderboard wall of fame! If you’re looking for a fun day out this place is well worth a visit!
