Chocoholics afternoon tea at the London Hilton on Park Lane
Chocolate lovers listen up! If you’re looking for a tasty, value for money afternoon tea that’s focused on chocolately goodness, then you can’t go wrong with a visit to the London Hilton Park Lane.
Over the past 12 months I’ve actually visited this central London hotel twice to experience its chocoholic’s afternoon tea, which throughout the year offers special themed teas. These allow the chefs to show off their amazing skill by creating sweet masterpieces designed around special events taking place in or around the capital.
I’ve had the joy of trying out the Ascot and London Fashion Week offerings so far, and on both occasions have been very impressed with the design and taste of the food as well as the lovely service.

Impeccable service
Once seated at your table, your experience begins with a chance to check out the different teas on offer, as you’re given a little sample tea set so you can have a smell of the leaves on offer and pick a drink to suit your mood. You’re then asked if you have any dietary preferences (they’re more than happy to accommodate any requests you have – a big thumbs up from me for that!) and they go off to order your sandwiches and scones.
As a picky eater I loved being able to select which sandwiches I wanted hassle free, plus you’re also given the option to pick what selection of scones you’d like – from plain, to fruit and chocolate chip.
The open sandwiches are displayed very prettily and the salmon was delicious, however I found the ham to be packet ham that was rather bland.

Refillable scones!
But of course, the highlight to this tea is the three-tiered tray of sweet treats.
The delicious scones come out warm, and the chocolate chips ones were to die for. You get the usual condiments of cream and jam, but also thrown into the mix is a yummy chocolate mouse topping if you really are a chocoholic! Even better is the fact that the scones are refillable, so you can request a second round if you love them as much as I do!
By this point you’re pretty darn full, but you just have to make room for the chocolate treats.
Chocolate treats
Those with a sweet tooth will love the chocoholics afternoon tea – during my visits I’ve been able to enjoy chocolate macaroons, meringues, biscuits, chocolate orange cake, white chocolate cake with a fondant middle, plus strawberry, banana and double chocolate cupcakes to name but a few.
It’s the little touches that make this tea extra special, and on both occasions our servers have come over to run us through each sweet, so we knew what to expect from each treat that went in our mouths.
Themed afternoon teas
When it comes to the themes, my favourite had to be the circular chocolate racecourse display (fully edible) that came with the Ascot themed tea. The chocolate used was wonderful high quality with the white chocolate being especially delicious! But each dish is given its own little treat, with cakes shapes like jockey helmets and biscuits in the shape of dresses and handbags for fashion week. Brilliant!
I’ll be shocked if you’re able to finish off the tea in its entirety, but fret not, anything you can fit in that afternoon will be given to you in a lovely little box to take home and enjoy at a later date.

Final thoughts
I canâ’t fault the food and service at the London Hilton Park Lane, the only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the setting. There was nothing wrong with the restaurant per se, however, I felt that the setting was quite dull and the decor was showing it’s age. However, that small bugbear aside, I’d definitely recommend this afternoon tea to all chocolate lovers visiting London, as the food was delicious and the service impeccable. A lovely find!
We were the guests of London Hilton on Park Lane for the London Fashion Week afternoon tea, but all opinions are our own. Our thanks to the hotel for their hospitality.
